The Heritage Foundation has reported that the Florida House has passed a new bill that would ban all abortions occurring after 15 weeks, which, if implemented, will save countless lives.

Heritage Action for America Executive Director Jessica Anderson said in a press release:

Three in four Florida voters support protecting unborn lives late in pregnancy. That’s precisely why HB 5 is needed—it is an important bill that will save countless lives of babies and their mothers in the state of Florida, both during pregnancy and after. We stand with the Florida representatives who voted to advance this bill and urge the Florida Senate to immediately consider this legislation so that Governor DeSantis can sign HB 5 into law to protect unborn babies after 15 weeks of gestation in the state of Florida.

As we approach the possibility of a post-Roe America and the power to protect life is rightfully returned to the states, we must ensure pro-life laws like HB 5 are on the books in states across the country.”

The Bill would do more than merely ban abortions after 15 weeks. It also codified abortion pills as medical abortions and requires them to be under the same category as non-drug abortions. Further, the bill makes it illegal for psychological reasons to be used as medically justified reasons for killing a baby.

However, the bill does give exceptions for killing the baby, like in cases where the mother will will incur significant physical damage or if the baby will die. While many in the general public are for this, some still see it as murder even though it is to protect the mother.

The Bill states:

(1) TERMINATION AFTER GESTATIONAL AGE OF 15 WEEKS IN THIRD 220 TRIMESTER; WHEN ALLOWED.—A physician may not perform a termination of pregnancy if the physician determines the gestational age of the fetus is more than 15 weeks unless one of the following conditions is met:

(a) Two physicians certify in writing that, in reasonable medical judgment, the termination of the pregnancy is necessary to save the pregnant woman's life or avert a serious risk of substantial and irreversible physical impairment of a major bodily function of the pregnant woman other than a psychological condition.

(b) The physician certifies in writing that, in reasonable medical judgment, there is a medical necessity for legitimate emergency medical procedures for termination of the pregnancy to save the pregnant woman's life or avert a serious risk of imminent substantial and irreversible physical impairment of a major bodily function of the pregnant woman other than a psychological condition, and another physician is not available for consultation.

(c) The fetus has not achieved viability under s. 240 390.01112 and two physicians certify in writing that, in reasonable medical judgement, the fetus has a fatal fetal abnormality.

Florida's bill is more stringent than states like New York, where psychological duress can be used as an excuse to kill the baby. They also legalize abortion from week one all the way through to just minutes before the baby is about to be delivered.

However, New York also took things a step further and removed laws that would register killing a baby or harming the mother during a delivery as homicide. Some say this removed safeguards protecting mothers and their children from being butchered in mistakes during delivery.

By Florida banning all abortions after 15 weeks unless doctors certify it will significantly harm the mother physically or the baby will die, it prevents "accidental" abortions and also makes abortion significantly more difficult to achieve, which will save lives.

The Bible says all children are alive in the womb (Job 3:11). To take their life premeditatively, therefore, is murder by Biblical standards. Even allowing murder up to 15 weeks is still allowing murder. However, this bill is a good start in the right direction of ending the genocide of the unborn.
