Insulting Holocaust Survivors Gets A Free Pass On "The View"

Whoopi Goldberg, who made headlines for saying the Holocaust was not about race and that Jews were not targeted by Hitler over their race, is now back on the view after her suspension

Whoopi told viewers that the Jews and Gypsies who were thrown into internment camps because Adolf Hitler wanted to make a white Aryan race were actually white people and the Holocaust had nothing to do with racism at all.

But after making her comments on The View, she doubled down on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert and proceeded to say most of those persecuted in the Holocaust were white:

Most of the Nazis were white people and most of the people they were attacking were white people.  How can you say it’s about race if you are fighting each other? This wasn’t racial. This was about white on white.

After she made her comments, The View suspended her before deciding to bring her back on when she apologized for what she said. However, Jewish groups decried her comments as "anti-Semitic."

Ken Cohen, writing for the Jewish News Syndicate reminded readers that everything Hitler did was to preserve a supposed "pure-blooded" German race devoid of "Jewish vermin. He writes:

To Adolf Hitler, it was all about race—defending the purity of his German volk (pure-blooded German Aryans) from contamination by “Jewish vermin.”

The first steps leading to the Holocaust were the 1935 Nuremberg Laws. That legislation codified the exclusion of Jews from most aspects of public life in Nazi Germany, including marriages or sexual relationships between Jews and the volk.

Jewish Groups Condemns Goldberg's Comments As Racist

The Anti-Defamation League also weighed in, saying her comments minimized the suffering of Jews during the Holocaust. In a Tweet, the CEO of the Anti-Defamation League, Jonathan Goldblatt, reminded Whoopi that the Holocaust was about Hitler trying to wipe out the Jews because he deemed them an inferior race.

But none of that matters, apparently, to those at ABC. In their heads, it is perfectly fine to disparage, trivialize the suffering of, and even outright deny large aspects of the Holocaust.

Imagine what would have happened if Ben Shapiro said the Civil War wasn't about slavery. Does anyone seriously think he would be given a slot on Fox News just days after his comments? Or do we all know he would be lambasted, cancelled, and blacklisted from the public for the rest of his life.

If Alex Jones was censored for his racist comments, then so should Whoopi Goldberg. Alex Jones's persona did, indeed, say disparaging, hateful things. But now so has Whoopi Goldberg, yet she gets a free pass.
